Microsoft Security Essentials/Windows Defender frequently flags Amazing Charts' Imported Items and other pages as viruses even when they are not. This results in annoying windows installer pop ups every time you click something in Amazing Charts. This is due to poorly written code and making hard system calls to certain files. This type of behavior is associated with viruses, hence it's flagged by many Antivirus programs. I'm only covering Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) since that is available for commercial use up to 10 users while most other Antivirus Programs are not available for fee when used in a commercial setting (e.g. Avast, AVG, and Avira.) I will discuss paid alternatives at a later time. But it's always a good idea to add the Amazing Charts folder as an exception when using it with Amazing Charts.
First off you'll want to launch the Microsoft Security Essentials/Windows Defender window, often found in the system tray or the start menu. Then go to the Settings tab at the top of the window (1). Go to Excluded files and locations (2). Then click Browse to find your Amazing Charts installation folder (3).
Next you'll want to select the directory which holds your Amazing Charts Installation (4).
- For those using 32 bit versions of Microsoft Windows, the location will be
"C:Program FilesAmazing Charts". - For those using 64 bit versions of Microsoft Windows, the location will be
"C:Program Files (x86)Amazing Charts".
Then confirm the location by pressing OK (5).
Lastly, you'll need to press Add to add the folder to the excluded locations list (6). Be careful, a lot of people forget to press Add at this step.
Finally, click Save Changes and close the window. The Amazing Charts folder is now in the excluded folders list.
