Fujitsu's ScanSnap (S1500 or ix500) scanners are a long time favorite of many small businesses and medical practices. They are easy to use and fast. One of the biggest setbacks is a lack of a TWAIN driver, but it's also one of the biggest features. The proprietary ScanSnap driver allows the scanner to detect folded pages, post-its, and other useful features. TWAIN was designed to be a universal protocol to allow applications to interface directly with the scanner. Higher end Fujitsu's have this feature like the Fujitsu fi-6130Z. However, they are nearly double the price.
We can do some optimizations to make scanning faster. One of the big requests we frequently get is to scan directly into a folder without any prompts or pop-ups. It's relatively easy to do on the ScanSnap and it's also doable on Xerox DocuMate Scanners albeit the process is slightly different.
Step 1: Open the Scanner Settings by right-clicking the ScanSnap icon in the system tray and selecting the Scan Button Settings
Step 2-3: Head to the Save tab (default). Uncheck Use Quick Menu and select the Scan to Folder under the Profile drop-down menu
Step 4: Head to the Application tab and Select None (Scan to File) under the Application drop-down menu. Hit Apply and OK
